If you're a Pay-As-You-Go customer and you've made a successful payment of $1 or more, you'll be able to access the GPT-4 API (8k).

ChatGPT Plus subscribers will get GPT-4 access on chat.openai.com with a usage cap. We will dynamically adjust the exact usage cap depending on demand and system performance in practice. As of January 5th 2024, GPT-4 has a rate limit of 40 messages every 3 hours. Please note that unused messages do not accumulate (i.e. if you wait 6 hours, you will not have 80 messages available to use for the next 3 hours). In certain cases, we may dynamically adjust the message limit in order to prioritize making GPT-4 accessible to the widest number of people.

Please note that ChatGPT rate limits are independent of API rate limits. You can learn more about API rate limits here.

Please be patient though — we expect massive demand and will scale up and optimize our systems over the coming months.

Note: this will not provide subscribers with access to the API.
